Good value for full membership

I was looking for a gym with a pool and classes, and Village Gym had a good offer when I signed up. The no joining fee deal made it much more affordable upfront. I got the full gym membership and feel like I'm getting a lot for the price, especially with all the Les Mills classes included. Definitely felt like a smart purchase for my budget.

Fantastic classes and equipment!

I just started my full gym membership and I'm so impressed! The Les Mills classes are awesome, especially Bodycombat. All the Technogym equipment is top-notch. I'm already telling my friends they should check it out. I'll definitely be renewing next year!

Great pool, easy access

Got the off-peak membership. The swimming pool is excellent, and it's easy to get there. Classes are good too. No complaints.

Smooth sign-up, great amenities

My sign-up for a student gym membership was very smooth online. The website was easy to navigate, and I had no issues applying my student discount. I received a confirmation email quickly. When I went for my first visit, the staff at the front desk were helpful. The gym itself is well-maintained; I used the free weights area and then went for a swim in the heated indoor pool. The locker room facilities were clean. I also tried a spinning class, which was well-led. Overall, a really positive experience from start to finish. Good to know what to expect.

Consistently good experience

I've been a member of Village Gym for a couple of years now, and I signed up for another year of full gym membership. The quality of the Technogym equipment is always reliable, and the heated indoor pool is a big draw for me. It's consistently clean, and booking classes like Bodypump is straightforward. They've maintained their standards, which is why I keep coming back.

Decent gym, minor booking issue

I recently got an off-peak membership at my local Village Gym. The facilities are great – the sauna and steam room are a nice touch, and there's a good range of cardio equipment. I really enjoyed the yoga class I attended. My only small gripe is that the app for booking classes can be a little clunky at times, making it a bit frustrating to reserve a spot. Otherwise, it's a solid gym for the price.

Thinking of joining Village Gym. Are the classes any good? Like, are they actually included or is it an extra cost for the popular ones?

S Steve Nguyen 1 month ago
Yeah, pretty much all the standard classes are included in the membership. Les Mills stuff, spin, yoga, all that. I've never paid extra for a regular class.

They're decent! Some instructors are better than others, obviously, but for the most part, you get a good workout. No extra charge for the main group fitness stuff, which is nice.

Hey, looking at a corporate membership. Do you guys know if the 'no joining fee' deal applies to those, or is it just for regular sign-ups?

M Mia Beaumont 1 month ago
From what I remember when my company signed up, the corporate rates usually have their own discounts, often including no joining fee. But you'd probably go through a specific link they give you.

Yeah, I think corporate memberships are usually separate, but they often waive the joining fee as part of that package. My mate got one and didn't pay any joining fee.

Quick question about freezing membership. If I go away for a month, can I pause it, or do I have to keep paying?

N Nina 1 week ago
You can freeze it! I had to do it when I was injured for a bit. Just give them a heads up, I think there might be a small admin fee or something minimal, but you definitely don't have to keep paying the full amount.

I froze mine last year for a holiday. You can do it, just need to let them know in advance. Check their terms for how many times a year or any little fees, but it's an option.

I'm a student and considering joining. Do they do a proper student discount, or is it just like, 5% off or something rubbish?

J Julia W. 1 month ago
They do have a student discount! Not sure of the exact percentage right now, but it's usually a decent chunk off the standard monthly price, not just a tiny bit.

Yup, there's a student membership option. I think you just need to show your student ID. It's a proper discount, not just a token amount.

Anyone know if the Village Gym pools are actually heated? I hate getting into freezing water.

N Nina 1 month ago
Oh yeah, definitely heated. It's not like a bath, but it's comfortably warm for swimming laps or just chilling.

S Sarah N. 1 month ago
Can confirm, the pool is heated. It's one of the reasons I go, especially in winter. No shock factor when you get in.
